The bomb went off with huge bang, which was created panic among ANP workers in the rally, resulting injuring ten of them. Aid workers and rescue staff arrived soon after the blast and shifted injured persons to nearby District Headquarter Hospital Charssada. The injured persons identified as traffic constable Masood Khan, constable Pir Alam, Haji Gul son of Alam Gul, Israrul Haq son of Abdul Qadir, Sardar Ali son of Noor Qadir, Mohammad Ayaz son of Mohammad Azam, Dilawar son of Gul Mohammad Abdul Shakoor son of Abdul Sadiq, Niaz Ali son of Said Umar and Sardar Mohammad son of Mohammad Yaqoob.
The personnel of law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and collected evidences from the site. According to bomb disposal unit of Charsadda police station, around 500 gram explosive was used, which was dumped under garbage near the venue of ANP rally. However, the rally held on scheduled timing wherein both ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti addressed.
Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan said that his party will continue its fight against terrorists until they are defeated. Terrorists want to push Pakhtuns into darkness, as they are the enemies of education, progress and development. He said this while addressing a public gathering. He said the ANP has been trying its level best to provide education to the people of the province, while terrorists are against it. He said that Kalabagh dam was totally an anti-Pakhtun project. The ANP would oppose the KBD, if the Supreme Court even ordered its construction, he added. Dictators in the past, too, tried to build the KBD, but they did not succeed. He said that they consider Punjab as its elder brother, but it (Punjab) would not be accepted as a commander.
He recalled that his party would not enter electoral alliance with any party for contesting the coming elections. "Our doors are open for alliance, but, if ANP fails to make an alliance, will then certainly have a solo flight" the ANP President maintained.
He directed district presidents of the ANP to form committees to mobile party workers for next polls. He claimed that ANP had fulfilled most of the promises that it had made with people of the province in last elections. Besides others, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, ANP KP President Senator Afrasyab Khattak and ANP district Charsadda president Khalid Khan also spoke on the occasion.
